James Clifford "Jake" Alvey, 85, of Indianapolis, formerly of Clarkson, died Monday, April 1, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born March 23, 1928. He was a press operator at Richardson Rubber Company. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching his cattle grow and caring for his farms when able to do so.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Nell Alvey; his parents, Henry Lee and Teresa Mae Higdon Alvey; four brothers, Fred, Marshall, Paul and Albert Alvey; and a sister, Cora Dezarn.
Survivors include three sons, David (Debra) Stogner of Alpharetta, Ga., Dan (Linda) Stogner of Vine Grove and Kevin (Dee Dee) Alvey of Whiteland, Ind.; two daughters, Rene (Larry) Neiman of Libertyville, Ill., and Sabetha Alvey (Don Roach) of Greenwood, Ind.; five sisters, Carrie Alvey Thompson of Falls of Rough, Virgie Alvey of Louisville, Nora Alvey Haycraft of Elizabethtown, Pearl Alvey Minton of Caneyville and Geneva Alvey Wilson of Floyds Knobs, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral is at 10 a.m. CDT Monday, April 8, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Clarkson with the Rev. Brian Johnson officiating. Burial follows in St. Benedict Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. CDT Sunday at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home in Clarkson. A prayer service is at 6 p.m. CDT Sunday at the funeral home.
