She was a native of Hardin County, a member of Blueball Baptist Church and loved her church dearly. She retired from Hardin Memorial Hospital after 20 years of service and was named Ambassader of the Month in 1977. She enjoyed sewing, attending Howevalley Homemakers Club, Wesley Hilltop for fellowship and playing bunco at the Howevalley Community Building.

She enjoyed her annual pajama party and making cornhole bags. What a wonderful blessing she was to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Curt and Gleenie Goodman Yates; a daughter, Clara Rexroat; a son, Ronnie Dale Chappell; a stepson, Bobby Chappell; a grandson, Elijah McMillian; a great-granddaughter, Jaylynn Clara Grimes; the father of her children, Junior Edward Chappell; five brothers, Robert, Durham, Clarence, Homer and Marion Yates; and three sisters, Lois Goodman, Doris Lucas and Etta Hicks.

She is survived by two sons, Garnett (Adeline) Chappell and Curtis (Kim) Chappell, all of Elizabethtown; four daughters, Freda (Ronnie) Griffin and Wanda (Carl) Edwards, all of Cecilia, Pamela Gayle (Herbie) Graham of Elizabethtown and Gloria (James) Mabe of Glasgow; two special cousins, Arthur and Eddie Yates; a son-in-law, Owen Rexcoat of Indiana; a special friend, Claudie Grimes of Indiana; a sister-in-law, Ollie Yates; 21 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Brown Funeral Home with the Revs. Arnold Moon and Glenn Cornett officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continues after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Blueball Baptist Church.

A special thank you to the Hosparus team for all their help and for all the love and prayers the family has received from everyone.
