John E. "Jack" Jones, 82, of Hodgenville, a native of Alabama, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at his residence.

He was an Army veteran, having served as a combat medic during the Korean conflict and he retired from civil service at Fort Knox. The avid fisherman and hunter was a member of Wesley Meadows United Methodist Church, having served as a chairman of the trustees, church treasurer and usher and was an active member of the church dart ball team, Sunday school class and bible study. Jack was a former member of the Kentucky National Guard and co-owner of Allen and Jones Upholstery.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelia Whitlock; his parents, John Henry and Gertie Benton Jones; two sisters, Faye Motes and Margie Palmateer; and a brother, George Henry Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Clark Jones; a son, Larry (Norma) Jones of Nancy; a son-in-law, Sherrill Whitlock of Hodgenville; his mother-in-law, Helen Clark of Hodgenville; a sister, Sarah Cooper of Hamilton, Ala.; a brother, Donald (Gwyneth) Jones of Guin, Ala.; one granddaughter, Hillary (Clinton) Cooper of Lexington; three great-grandchildren, Ella, Nora and Graham Cooper; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Brothers Wallace Votaw and Eugene Centers officiating. Burial follows in Red Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and continues at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
