John William Pulliam, 81, of Elizabethtown, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013.

Mr. Pulliam was born Sept. 22, 1932, in Shepherdsville. On Aug. 14, 1953, he married the former Marga-ret Mary Cusack from Westport, Ireland. Mr. Pulliam was a career military man obtaining the rank of chief master sergeant in under 12 years and retiring after 20 years of service in the U.S. Air Force. Upon retiring, Mr. Pulliam joined the U.S. General Accounting Office specializing in auditing military spending and defense weapons systems. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Mary Pulliam; his parents; a brother; a sister; and a grandson.
Survivors include four children, Shirley A. Nordeen, John David Pulliam, Mary Pulliam – Ellis (Richard) and Frances T. Pulliam; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald H. Pulliam.
A Mass of Christian burial is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Chuck Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Dixon-Atwood & Trowbridge Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
