Kathryn Nelle Long Dowell, 85, of Radcliff, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Kensington Manor in Elizabethtown.

She was retired from civil service work at Ireland Army Hospital in Fort Knox. She was a member of Longview United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. Other memberships included the
and the First Armored Division Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ethel Long; her brother, George A. Long Jr.; and her brother-in-law, Curt Sams.
Survivors include her husband, Robert G. Dowell of Radcliff; two sons, Bobby Dowell of Radcliff and John Dowell and his wife, Ronda, of Hendersonville, Tenn.; her daughter, Marsha Dowell and her husband, Ron, of Elizabethtown; a granddaughter, Kimberly Dowell Mays and her husband, Russell; a grandson, Dr. Chip Dowell and his wife, Dr. Stephanie Dowell; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marty Pitvorec and her husband, Rudy, of Elizabethtown and Betty Brand of Belleville, Ill.; two nieces; and two nephews.
The funeral is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff with Pastor Justin Hornsby officiating. Burial is in North Hardin Memorial Gardens in Radcliff.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continues at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
