Kenneth Layman Puckett, 84, of Elizabethtown, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at his residence.

He was a native of Hardin County, served in the U.S. Air Force and was a very active member of Valley Creek Baptist Church. He was a member of Stephensburg Masonic Lodge F&AM and Disabled American Veterans. He retired from Fort Knox civil service and was a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Foster Curl and Reedy Kellis Puckett; and a grandson, Jer-emy Greenup.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ferguson Puckett; one son, Danny (Marie) Puckett of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Diane (Bob) Burba of Hodgenville and Pam (Mike) Hulsey of Elizabethtown; one brother, Adrian (Edwena) Puckett of Louisville; one sister, Irene (Bob) Moser of Louisville; six grandchildren, Kenny Puckett, Lora Kurtz, Tracy Copley, Shaun Thomas, Scott Thomas and Chris Houk; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Valley Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Merill Kurtz, Scott Kerr and Howard Pryor officiating. Burial, with military honors, follows in Valley Creek Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown and continues at 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.
