Kenneth R. Carby, 71, of Upton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at his residence in Upton. He was a member of Center Point Missionary Baptist Church. He owned and operated his own heavy equipment company, and previously worked for Hunts Tractor and Equipment Company for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie Vinson Carby; his parents, Charles and Nancy Allen Carby; and one brother, Norman Carby. Survivors include a son, Dennis (Tracy) Carby of Cecilia; two daughters, Teresa Nobles of Upton, and Jacqueline (David) Cecil of Elizabethtown; a sister, Geraldene Priddy of Sonora; two brothers, Ernest Carby of Upton, and Larry Carby of Alabaster, Ala.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral is at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Center Point Missionary Baptist Church in White Mills, with the Revs. Bethel Miller and Robert Jewell officiating. Burial is in Sonora Cemetery.
