Leslie Spires, of Arcadia, Fla., formerly of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013.

He was born Aug. 29, 1930, in Neeses, S.C. He was a resident of Big Tree R.V. Park in Arcadia for 18 years and formerly lived in Elizabethtown for 36 years.

Leslie served in the military for eight years and was a Korean War veteran. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 113 in Elizabethtown, a Kentucky Colonel, civil service retiree and a member of College Heights United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Louise Long Spires; two children, Leonard of Tennessee and LiShea of California; two grandchildren, Ashley and Cody, both of Tennessee; one sister, Asyleen Johnson of Garfield, Ga.; and two brothers, Jimmy of Alexander, Ga., and Asyle of Portsmouth, Va.

Cremation was chosen.
