Mack Edward Thomas, 91, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at his home.

He was born in the Roanoke area of Hardin County on March 31, 1921. His family ran a general store in the area until 1937, then moved to Elizabethtown and began a primarily poultry and egg business, which also included animal feed, cream, furs and hides, ginseng and shoes.

Mack was a World War II veteran having served in the U. S. Army Air Force. After returning from the war, he was the owner and operator of Thomas Poultry and Egg Company. Since 1968, Mack and his family have resided on a farm on St. John Road. He enjoyed being involved with Angus cattle and shared in lifelong friendships with farm and Angus enthusiasts.

Mack was a lifetime member of the morning ""Coffee Club"" as sessions were being held at Dixie Cafe, Hilltop, Porter's, Big T, Jerry's and Bub's.

He attended First Christian Church, where he was a past board member and was recognized for 50 years of service as a church greeter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rola Raymond Sr. and Lizzie Neff Thomas; a brother, James Thomas; and a sister, Ella Mae Thomas Hunter.

Mack is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Wanda Boyd Thomas; a brother, R. R. ""Babe"" Thomas Jr. of Elizabethtown; four sons, Raymond ""Rick"" (Donna), Michael (Celia) and Ronald (Denise), all of Elizabethtown, and Donald (Sandy) of Owensboro; nine granddaughters, Meghan Birkenhauer (Tommy), Rachel, Sarah, Amanda, Stephanie, Kelly, Katie, Emily and Ellie Thomas; and one great-grandson, Aiden Thomas.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at First Christian Church with Brothers Chris Kiger, Doug Mitchell and Stuart Jones and the Rev. B.T. Bishop officiating. Burial follows in Hardin Memorial Park.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and continues at 9 a.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
