Margaret L. Barnes, 96, of Elizabethtown, passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 10, 1922, in Winchester, Indiana, to Carl and Wilda Hiatt, Margaret was a 1940 graduate of Huntsville High School in Randolph County, Indiana. She played clarinet in the high school band. In 1993, she moved to Elizabethtown, becoming a member of Gilead Baptist Church, the Sunshiners Senior Citizens Group and the Senior Rook Club in Glendale. She was musically gifted and enjoyed playing gospel hymns on the piano, organ, and the accordion (her favorite).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Barnes; her parents; and two brothers, Walter and Chester Hiatt.

She is survived by two sons, Gary (Rebecca) Coley of Owenton and Philip (Teresa) Coley of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren, Julie O'Banion, Jason Coley, Jacob Coley, Natalie Burden, Bryan Coley and Jessica Owsley; and 13 great-grandchildren.
