Marie M. Phillips, 98, of Kimper, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 28, 1913, in Mingo County, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late John and Trulie Morris.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Alva Phillips; one daughter, Annette Marie Guttormsen; one granddaughter, Linda L. Guthormson; and 10 siblings.
She is survived by one son, Harvey J. Phillips of Kimper; one sister, Loraine Napier; seven grandchildren, Ed Guttormsen, Lisa Cardin, Andria Henderson, Kelly Phillips, Lynn Rose, Harvey Phillips and Jennifer Rene Phillips; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 5, at Lucas and Son Funeral Home in Pikeville.
Visitation is from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
