Mary Ann Ball, 42, of Cecilia, formerly of Pikeville and lived for 19 years in Elizabethtown, died at her residence after a three-year battle with breast cancer on Wednesday, March 19, 2014.
She was born Dec. 20, 1971. She was a 1989 graduate of Pikeville High School, 1993 graduate of Pikeville College with a degree in biology and chemistry; and a 1997 graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in physician assistant studies.
She was a member of the site-based school council at Morningside Elementary School, the Eastern Star of Pikeville and Glendale Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Lucille (Little) Hatfield, formerly of Pikeville; and her biological mother, Susan Johnsten, formerly of Chicago.
She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Randy Ball; three children, Jackson Ball, Kathryn Ball and Andrew Ball, all of Cecilia; her biological father, Robert Lawson of Johns Creek; a sister, Kristen (Johnsten) Sison of Chicago; a brother, Eric Johnsten of Indianapolis; two nieces and three nephews; and so much more than a mother-in-law and caregiver, Garlene Ball-Workman of Pikeville.
The funeral was Saturday, March 22, at Glendale Christian Church with Brothers Mike Bell and Jeff Gaines officiating. Burial follows in Glendale Christian Church Cemetery.
Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown was in charge of arrangements.
