Monica Louise "Mona Lou" Pike, 84, of Payneville, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, Indiana.

Mona Lou was born May 25, 1929, in Brandenburg to the late Wade and Mary Anthony Hardesty Miller.

Mona Lou was an active member of her community. She was the founder of the Meade County Senior Citizens Nutrition Program in 1974, was the coordinator of the Meade County Community Action for many years and was inducted into the Community Action Hall of Fame in 2012; she received the Lincoln Trail ADD District Volunteer of the Year Award. She taught CCD at St. Theresa Church for many years, was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Church, was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy in Maple Mount and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Her daughter, Becky Lou Pike, and sister, Margaret Lorene Miller, preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Monica Anne (Gary) Lytle of Payneville and Andrea Lea (Gregory) Pike-Goff of Brandenburg; five sons, Joseph Edwin "Edd" (Mary Frances) Pike of Payneville, David Harold (Teresa) Pike of Brandenburg, Ronald Earl "Ronnie" (Jill) Pike and John Bernard Pike, all of Payneville, and Leslie Richard (Angela) Pike of Hodgenville; a sister, Mary Rita (Seymour) Reitman of Louisville; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The funeral is at 10:30 a.m. EDT Saturday, May 10, at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Payneville. Burial follows in the church cemetery with the Rev. Bob Abel officiating.

Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. EDT Friday and continues at 8 a.m. EDT Saturday at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home in Brandenburg. A prayer service is at 6 p.m. EDT Friday.
