Nelson Lee Kelley, 63, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at his residence.

He was a native of Louisville, a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Green River Masonic Lodge in Munfordville and a former interim executive director of United Way of Central Kentucky. He was a Kentucky Colonel who was active in various capaci-ties with the United Way and a special mentor and servant to many youth of Elizabethtown and surround-ing counties.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Browne and Alice Katherine Cropper Kelley.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jimmie Dee Kelley; two brothers, Howard Vincent (Barbara) Kelley of Longmont, Colo., and Walter Baker (JoAnne) Kelley of Grady, N.C.; three sisters, his twin, Sherilyn Kelley Kreinbihl of Pickerington, Ohio, Angela Lynn Kelley Hock of Tulsa, Okla., and Kathleen Kelley (David) Regneri of Louisville; his stepmother, Betty Hagan Kelley of Louisville; two stepbrothers, Mark Losson of Louisville and Chris (Deana) Losson of St. Joseph, Mo.; a stepsister, Ann Losson Minsterketter of Louisville; and 15 nieces and nephews.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at St. James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown with the Revs. Chuck Walker and Bill Fichteman officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in St. James Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and con-tinues at 9 a.m. Thursday at the church. A prayer service is at 7 p.m. Wednesday with Bill Clark officiating.
