Paul Edwin Pence, 97, of Elizabethtown, died Sat-urday, July 20, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

He was a native of Big Clifty. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a former member of the Civilian Conservation Corp. He was a former truck driver for Maffett and Crutcher Trucking in Elizabeth-town. He was a member of the Morrison Masonic Lodge No. 76 in Elizabethtown, a member of Teamsters Local No. 89 in Louisville and the American Legion Post No. 113 in Elizabethtown. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of St. Clare Catholic Church in Colseburg.
He was preceded by his first wife, Thelma Bernice McHargue Pence.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred W. French Pence of Elizabethtown; a son, Charles Edwin "Ed" Pence of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Betty Jean Beard of Elizabethtown; a stepdaughter, Paula Fowler (Jerry) of Colesburg; a stepson, Charlie Wise (Kathy) of Colesburg; two sisters, Frances Phelps and Joann Delk, both of Elizabethtown; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
The Mass of the Resurrection is at 11 a.m. Tues-day at St. Clare Catholic Church in Colesburg. Burial is in Hardin Memorial Park in Elizabethtown.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m Monday with a prayer service at 6 p.m. and continues after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Kappel Funeral Home Boston Chapel in Boston. A Masonic service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
