Richard Edward Hayes, 78, passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at his residence, surrounded by his daughter, Sherry Stinnett, and his granddaughter, Hannah Stinnett of Elizabethtown.

He is survived by a son, Richard Hayes of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Diana Hayes of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Sherry Stinnett of Elizabethtown; three grandchildren, Hannah Stinnett of Elizabethtown, Phillip Modgling of Wimberly, Texas, and Dawna Beam of Inwood, W.Va.; four great-grandchildren; a special friend and great-grandson, Jordyn Stinnett of Elizabethtown, who will miss long talks about science, his endless candy supply and his love and support; and caregivers, R.N. Melissa Griffin and C.N.A. George.
