Dr. Sarah Katherine Smith Hottell, 27, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, in a car accident in Meade County. She was born on April 19, 1985.

Sarah held the position of pharmacy manager for Rite Aid in Brandenburg, where she was passionate about her profession and providing exceptional care to all her patients and customers. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church, an honor graduate of Meade County High School and received a PharmD degree from the University of Kentucky. She enjoyed her role as a football coach's wife and a Louisville Cardinal sports fan. She was at heart a hometown girl who always put family first.
Sarah leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Brent William Hottell; 10-month-old son Tanner Brent Hottell; parents Tim and Kittie Smith of Brandenburg; a sister, Cynthia Smith of Brandenburg; two brothers, Joseph (Kimber) Smith of Stevensville, Montana and Robey Smith of Brandenburg; a niece, Madeline Smith; grandparents, Stuart Pepper, Cecil Smith and Elizabeth and Fred Wheatley, all of Brandenburg; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
She was recently preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Anne Pepper.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at First Baptist Church. Burial follows in Cap Anderson Cemetery.
Visitation is 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home in Brandenburg.
