Versie Thompson Clopton, 84, of Magnolia, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Magnolia. She was a school teacher for a few years and retired from Sunrise Manor Nursing Home as a dietitian after several years of service. She was born Dec. 3, 1927, in Hart County, the daughter of late Roy and Pearl Slayton Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Hubert Leon "P.O." Clopton, who passed away Aug. 7, 2011. She also is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles "Joe" Thompson and Leamon Thompson. Survivors include one grandson, Derek Wright of Magnolia; one granddaughter, Connie Wright of Magnolia; five brothers, Edward Thompson of Magnolia, Jesse Thompson of Magnolia, James Alvin Thompson of Hodgenville, John "Hank" (Evelyn) Thompson of Magnolia and Clarence (Peggy) Thompson of Mt. Sherman; two sisters, Geneva Milby of Magnolia and Martha Turner of Hodgen-ville; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A memorial service is at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Benningfield Chapel Baptist Church in Magnolia with Brother Burton officiating. Burial follows in Benningfield Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Benningfield Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery fund. Rust-Wright Funeral Home in Hodgenville is in charge of arrangements.
