William Maurice Biggs III, 79, of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at his residence.

He was a native of Greenup County and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of First Christian Church and American Legion Post No. 113 and was a Goodwill Ambassador for the chamber of commerce.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Francis Ruth Colwell; his second wife, Aloma Juanita Ennis Biggs; parents, William Maurice Biggs Jr. and Mable Phillips Biggs; and a sister, Jo Ann West.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Lee Batten Biggs; two daughters, Shelley Gardner and Kathy (Jessie) Higgs, all of Elizabethtown; a son, William M. Biggs IV of Columbia, S.C.; two stepsons, Sam Ennis of Rineyville and Greg (Cathy) Anderson of Denver; three stepdaughters, Sarah Ennis of Washington D.C., Debbie (Bill) Blackwell of Clarksville, Tenn., and Marilyn (Dave) Collins of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister, Rebecca (Bill) Martin of Cincinnati; one granddaughter, Ashley Taylor Thomas and her son, Cayden of Elizabethtown; nine stepgrandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral is at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Brother Chris Kiger officiating.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and continues at noon Saturday at the funeral home.
