Retired Lt. Col. William N. ""Billy"" Hibbs, 75, of Vine Grove, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

Mr. Hibbs was a member of Valley View Baptist Church in Vine Grove and he retired from the U.S. Army after 33 years of service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a Master Aviator. He also retired from Anacoco High School in Anacoco, La., where he worked as a special education teacher and a member of the National Street Rod Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ora Frances Hibbs; his parents, Charles Owen and Mary Davis Hibbs; and one sister, Margaret Ann Hibbs Tutten.
Survivors include two sons, William Timothy Hibbs and his wife, Pauline, of Fairview, Tenn., and Thomas Howard Hibbs and his wife, Tara, of DeRidder, La.; seven grandchildren, Elena, Caleb, Ashlyn, Maximilan, Layla, Trinity and Sean; and three siblings, Susan Hibbs, Johnny Hibbs and Marycharles Howe; and a loyal caregiver, Patsy Hoter.
Mr. Hibbs's funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at Valley View Baptist Church in Vine Grove with Dr. R. Shawn Edwards officiating. Burial with military honors follows in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Coffey & Chism Funeral Home in Vine Grove and continues at 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
