Willis E. Rich Jr., 83, of Elizabethtown, husband of Charline Carter Rich, died Friday, June 8, 2018, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

Born in Clay County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Willis E. Sr. and Emma Stockton Rich. Willis was a U.S. Army retired lieutenant colonel having served more than 30 years in both active duty and in the reserves. He was a member of the LaRue County Church of Christ.

He was preceded by his first wife, Rochelle Dyer Rich, in 1994.

In addition to his wife, Charline, he is survived by two daughters, Tammy (Frank) Hestand of Versailles and Tracey Rich Giles of Lawrenceburg; his stepchildren, Susan (Greg) Pawley and Joe (Angela) Carter, both of Elizabethtown; seven grandchildren, Hannah Giles, Haidyn Giles, Emily Hestand, Brandt Pawley, Jackson Pawley, Nick Carter and Sophie Carter.

The funeral is at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Versailles Church of Christ with a eulogy by John Board. Interment with military honors follows at Rose Crest Cemetery in Versailles.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 18, at Elizabethtown Church of Christ and continues from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Versailles Church of Christ.

Pallbearers are Nick Carter, Brandt Pawley, Jackson Pawley, Haidyn Giles, Tim Turner and Chuck Dyer.
