Martin Wesley "Big Daddy" Cardin, 72, of Sonora, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

He was a loving husband and papaw. For 38 years, he owned Cardin's Flint Hill General Store. He was an avid gardener, outdoorsman and hunter and was a member of Bonnieville Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Grace Harpool Cardin; and a sister, Edith Cundiff.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, JoAnn Johnson Cardin of Sonora; two daughters, Wesliann Cardin of Elizabethtown and Amy (J.P.) Brown of Cibolo, Texas; two sons, Mark (Michelle) Cardin of Elizabethtown and Michael (Diane) Cardin of Flint Hill; a sister, Georgia Mae Dougherty of Hodgenville; three brothers, Wayne Cardin of Glendale, Dean Cardin of Sonora and Doug Cardin of Elizabethtown; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a granddog.
The funeral is at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at First Baptist Church of Sonora with the Rev. Ron Blair officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Manakee Funeral Home in Sonora.
