Robert Allen Hansen Sr., 70, of Elizabethtown, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

He was a native of Black River Falls, Wis. He spent one year at the Citadel on a football scholarship and was a graduate of the University of Louisville. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965. He worked for Crucible Magnetics for five years and then for the Internal Revenue Service for 23 years. He also taught at Elizabethtown Community College. He was a past faithful navigator and grand knight of the Elizabethtown Knights of Columbus No. 1455 and a member of the Monsignor McGee General Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Forever Young Club.
He was preceded in death by his father, Claire John Hansen; and a son, Christopher Clark Hansen.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lucy Lee Clark Hansen; three sons, Robert Allen (Jennifer) Hansen Jr. of Crestwood, Richard Anthony (Christina) Hansen of Redford, Mich., and Joseph Timothy Hansen of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.; his mother, Violet R. Hansen of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; a brother, John Paul Hansen of Indialantic, Fla.; two sisters, Patricia Hansen of Middleburg, Fla., and Mary Mullins of Green Cove Springs; and three grandchildren, Sarah, Emily and Lena Hansen.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at St. James Catholic Church with the Revs. Chuck Walker and Dick Sullivan officiating. Burial, with military honors, follows in St. James Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and continues at 9 a.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A prayer vigil is at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
