Noel Ernest Galloway Jr., 81, of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Kensington Center in Elizabethtown.

He was born Oct. 24, 1932, in Rosedale (now part of Beaumont) Texas, and was a member of Tunnel Hill Baptist Church, where he was deacon emeritus, Sunday School teacher, choir member and former trustee. He retired from Mobil Oil Corp. after 31 years and served in the U.S. Naval Air Force as an instrument flight instructor during the Korean Conflict.

He was a Boy Scouts of America Life Scout, a former American Red Cross first aid instructor, a member of Minooka, Illinois, Fire Department, a former Salvation Army board member, a member of the Heart of Kentucky Men's Chorus, a charter member of Lincoln Trail Homebuilders and a former Brown-Pusey House board member.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Helen Galloway; two brothers, Thomas Galloway and Frank Galloway; and his wife, Mary Leo.

Survivors include his wife of more than 62 years, Margaret Galloway; one sister-in-law, Maxine Galloway of Tyler, Texas; one daughter, Virginia Galloway of Houston, Texas; four sons, Carl (Patsy) of Austin, Texas, Joseph (Claudia) and Daniel of Elizabethtown, and Patrick (Vivian) of Louisville; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Galloway, Lydia Miller, John and James Galloway, Jeanetta and Paula Burnett, Claudia Black and Carlos Carrillo; four special grandchildren, Brittany Hawkins, Rachel Brangers, Allison Armstrong and Brandon Buchanan; two great-grandchildren, Addison Mae Black and Eli Charles McWilliams; and several nieces, nephews and special friends; Tunnel Hill Baptist Church family, and Sam Brangers, Jarvis Burton and Harry Noble.

A memorial service is at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at Tunnel Hill Baptist Church in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Joshua Looten and the Rev. Gerald Murphy officiating.

Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church.
