Bobby Lee McKnight Sr., 72, of Upton, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

Sgt. 1st Class McKnight was retired from the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Meritorious Service Medal. He also was retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

He was preceded in death by two children, Cynthia Marie and Kenneth Wayne; two brothers, Arley G. and Charlie M.; and two sisters, Louise and Lona Gail.

Survivors include his loving wife, Charlene McKnight of Upton; five children, Kathy McDaniel of Rhode Island, Victoria Igou of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Brandon Gold, Bobby Lee McKnight Jr. and Branson Michael McKnight, all of Upton; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clyde McKnight and his wife, Ethel, Austin K. McKnight Jr. and Billy J. McKnight and his wife, Monika; a sister, Shirley Scarbro; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A graveside service with military honors for Mr. McKnight Sr. is at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Coffey & Chism Funeral Home in Vine Grove.
