Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
Evelyn was a devoted wife to her husband of 65 years, Paul, who preceded her in death Nov. 21, 2009, and to her children.
Evelyn loved sharing stories of her childhood and early farm life experiences she and Paul faced with close acquaintances.
Another favorite pasttime was crocheting kitchen towel hangers as she watched her beloved Kentucky Wildcat basketball team.
Evelyn met the challenge of a Rook card game with a twinkle in her eyes and enjoyed winning the game so much she would talk about her win for days just so she could relive it over and over.
Many hours Evelyn spent baking her delicious Hummingbird Cakes so she could donate them for bake sales at the Methodist Church in Glendale.
She also was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Laura Jo Crawley; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Jenkins; and a brother, William Jenkins.
Left behind to cherish memories of Evelyn are her sons, David (Pam) Buckles of Elizabethtown; Dwayne (Mary) Buckles of Lexington; four grandchildren, Will, Alex, C.J. Buckles and Alecia Oldham; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Alizabeth and Ashtyn Oldham; and special friends, Pat Riticher and Wanda Bennett.
The funeral is at 1 p.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Brother Mike Bell and the Rev. Claudia Nava-Galloway officiating. Burial follows in St. James Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday and continues at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
