Alviene Crump Hines, 82, of Buffalo, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at Taylor Manor Nursing Home in Versailles.
Alviene was a housewife and a member of Buffalo Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She was an avid golfer and a charter member of the LaRue County Country Club. Alviene was a long-life Republican and a devoted UK fan.
Alviene was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Edwin Downs and William T. "Pete" Hines; her parents, Claud and Lizzie Hedgespeth Crump; three sisters, Magdalene Wright, Dorothy Duffy and Edna Scott; and a brother, Marvin Crump.
Survivors include three daughters, Claudette Johns of Lawrence, Kansas, Vicki (Russ) Pollock of Versailles and Jana (David) Sturm of Frankfort; sisters, Virginia Goff of Summersville and Herschel Miller of Fairdale and her twin sister, Dixie Brooks of Buffalo; six grandchildren, Michelle Lamp, Michael Downs Bradbury, Teri Lance, Matthew Miller, Amy Sturm and Ryan Sturm; nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Rev. Gordon McDowell officiating. Burial follows in Buffalo Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and continues at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
