Margaret "Marnie" Swank Keesy, 83, of Athertonville, formerly of New Haven, passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at her residence in Athertonville.
She was born Oct. 28, 1930, in West Moreland County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Robert Newton and Gertrude Golden McCuthen Swank.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in New Haven.
She was retired owner operator of the Towne Café Restaurant after 20 years of operation and also retired as a city commissioner for eight years for the city of New Haven.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Robert "Gus" Keesy; and two brothers, David "D.K." Swank and Robert M. Swank.
She is survived by three sons, Newt Keesy of New Haven, Charlie (Marian) Keesy of Lexington and Robert "Bob" Keesy of New Haven; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral for Margaret "Marnie" Swank Keesy is at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1, at William R. Rust Funeral Home Chapel in New Haven with the Rev. Troy Overton, pastor of St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery in New Haven.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, and continues at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
