William Henry "Bill" Mercer Jr., 64, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

He was a native of Hardinsburg, a member of Morrison Masonic Lodge No. 76 and was an F&AM past master. He was a firefighter and engineer with Elizabethtown Fire Department for 21 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bette Jean Davis Mercer; and his parents, Peggy Ann Gragson and William H. Mercer Sr.
He is survived by a daughter, Rhonda (Tim) Priddy of Upton; two sons, James Lanford of Elizabethtown and Ronnie (Ingrid) Lanford of Glendale; a sister, Susan (Jim) Roe of Glendale; five grandchildren, Sarah (Aaron) Goff, Bradley (Alicia) Lanford, Nicole Lanford, Michell Priddy and Kyle Priddy; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Evan Goff; and two nephews, William Gardner Roe and James Madison Roe.
The funeral is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Chaplain Bill Mullins officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and continues at 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A Masonic service is at 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Crusade for Children.
