The dearly loved Jeannine Julia Eitutis, 67, passed away unexpectedly into the arms of the Lord on Friday, March 8, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

Jeannine grew up in LaSalle-Peru, Ill., where she graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School and attended college. She was a retired employee of Kmart. Her kind, gentle spirit endeared her to many. Her greatest love was her family, most especially her grandchildren and children.

She traveled the world by her husband's side throughout his military career. She exemplified the perfect example of motherhood, friendship and most of all Christianity. She cherished every minute with children, grandchildren and close friends. She will be missed for her generosity, kindness, humor and steadfast friendship and love.

Jeannine, born Oct. 18, 1945, was the daughter of the late Leo and Josephine Ficek in LaSalle-Peru. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Stanley Thomas Eitutis; a grandson, Michael Joseph Eitutis; her mother-in-law, Vivian Greenig Eitutis; and her father-in-law, Stanley Eitutis.

She is survived by her loving husband, Stanley Eitutis; four children, Laura (Gary) Gibson of Elizabethtown; Matthew (Barbara) Eitutis of Topeka, Kan.; Jason (Elizabeth) Eitutis of Navarre, Fla.; and Julie (Steve) Smallwood of Elizabethtown; a daughter-in-law, Candace Eitutis of Elizabethtown; 14 grandchildren, Taylor Milks, Christopher Eitutis, Michael (Katie) Eitutis, Gabby Eitutis, Ethan Eitutis, Amber Eitutis, Lillian Eitutis, Jordan Smallwood, Jenna Smallwood, Josie Smallwood, Jessica Smallwood, Samantha Eitutis, Elijah Eitutis, and Trevor Eitutis; and six siblings, MaryAnn Ruda of LaSalle, Ill., Bill (Donna) Ficek of LaSalle, Ill., Ken (Barbara) Ficek of Oglesby, Ill., John (Connie) Ficek of Oglesby, Ill., Dick (Joanne) Ficek of Cedar Lake, Ind., and Cynthia (Bob) Morrow of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; her brother-in-law David (Jane) Eitutis of Troy Grove, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the Main Post Chapel at Ft. Knox with Chaplain Lt. Col. James Boulware officiating. Burial follows in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.

Visitation at is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff. Condolences may be expressed at www.nebfh.com.
