Elmer Otis Jones, 88, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Kindred Hospital.

He was born in Round Hill to Elmer Joab and Gracie (Hack) Jones.
Otis was a retired millwright with 37 years of service at International Havester. He was one of the first to be hired at the plant. He was a member of Shively Heights Baptist Church and was a World War II Army veteran, having served with the Army Engineers and was awarded five Bronze Stars.
"He never met a stranger and anyone who knew him was proud to call him friend. He will be missed by all."
Otis was preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years, Norma (Likens) Jones; a son, Robert Jones; his parents; a brother, William Jones; and a sister, Ethel Elmore.
Survivors include two children, Ronald Jones (Tammy) and Deborah Bartsch (Ed); six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Bernie Ray Jones (Joyce) and Bruce Jones; and two sisters, Helen Johnson and Lucille Taylor.
The funeral is at 1 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, Louisville. Burial follows in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and continues from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
