Janice Allene Cook, 77, of Summit, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at her home.

She was native of Hardin County and a member of Summit Church of Christ. She was a substitute teacher for six years for Hardin County Schools and a teacher's assistant for 15 years with Elizabethtown city schools. She volunteered with both school systems for more than 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Gertrude Craig Richardson; a daughter, Amy Sue Cook; two brothers, Bud Richardson and Levi Richardson; three sisters, Wilma Tressler, Sara Pope and Norma Hilton; a granddaughter, Sarah Adams; and a grandson, Joseph Adams.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Austin Cook; three daughters, Marsha Lynn (Randy) Adams of White Mills, and Karen Elaine Cook and Lori Ann Cook, both of Elizabethtown; a brother, Roland Richardson of Summit; two sisters, Colleen Feier of Dunnellon, Fla., and Elaine Richardson of Summit; and two grandchildren, Meghan (Colin) Donnelly and their daughter, Eibhlin, of Oshkosh, Wis., and Nathaniel Adams of White Mills.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Brother Sam Dick officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continues after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
