Charles Larry Veirs, 63, of Cecilia, passed gently into God's arms Monday, July 29, 2013, while surrounded by his wife and children.

Larry retired after 30 years of service from Windstream. Upon his retirement he worked for eight years at Feeding America, Kentucky's Heartland. He left Feeding America to run his own business, Ace Signs & Graphics with his family, where he was lovingly called ""Mr. President."" He was actively involved in youth sports in Howevalley, Cecilia and Elizabethtown. He loved coaching football and baseball and touched many lives. He was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcat fan and was passionate about his garden and flowers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ewing and Virginia Celestine Logsdon Veirs; two brothers, Ronnie Veirs and Theodore Veirs; and a sister, Shirley Loving.
He left behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Karen Marshall Veirs; three sons, James William (Shannon) Long of Louisville and Charles Andrew Veirs and Michael Adam Veirs, both of Cecilia; three daughters, Jennifer Elizabeth Ellis and Jaqueline Renee (Cole) Edlin, both of Elizabethtown and Stephanie Denise Veirs (Justin Edgell) of Owensboro; two brothers, David (Judy) Veirs and Michael Viers both of Elizabethtown; five sisters, Joyce Wright of Louisville, Linda (Paul) Champ of Elizabethtown, Judy (Bernie) Faulhaber of Port Orange, Fla., and Cheryl (Gene) Scott and Donna Owen, both of Elizabethtown; his sister-in-law, Patty Veirs of Elizabethtown; two brothers-in-law, William J. (Mary) Marshall of Lake Hopatacong, N.J. and George E. (Margaret) Marshall of Fort Mill, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Kathryn M. (Peter) Depalma of Palm Coast, Fla.; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him.
Cremation was chosen by the family.
A memorial service is at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
Visitation begins at noon Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made in his name to Feeding America, Kentucky's Heartland.
