Funeral services for Mr. Carl L. Hilburn Sr., 82, will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at Bosco Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Underwood officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe.

Mr. Hilburn was born in Caldwell Parish on September 19, 1930 to the union of George and Sara Turnbow Hilburn and passed from this life on Sunday Morning February 3, 2013 at his residence after an extended illness.

He was a resident of West Monroe, a retired farmer and mechanic, a member of Bosco Baptist Church and the VFW; he served in the United States Army. He enjoyed visiting and dancing at the VFW with friends and had a passion for laughter and joking with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ethel Smith Hilburn, his brothers Allen, Ed and Clyde Hilburn, Jay Allen and Alonzo Frazier; his sister Margaret Bailes; great grandchildren Hannah Hilburn, Nicholas Shane Hilburn and Jimmy Prisock IV.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law James & Wanda, Carl Jr., & Martha, Nicky & Tracy, Tom & Dianne and Dale Hilburn; daughter Rachel Graves & husband John; special friend Virginia Colvin; also survived by a host of grandkids, great grandkids and great great grandkids.

Pallbearers will be his sons James, Carl Jr., Nicky, Tom, Dale Hilburn also Johnny Hilburn and Chris Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cotton Tharp and Shelby Parker.

Visitation for friends will be Wednesday after 9am until time of service.
