James Ray Russell
Funeral Services for Mr. James Ray Russell, 83, of Farmerville, LA. will be held on Monday, January 20, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel of Farmerville, LA., Officiating will be Chaplin Andy Myrick. Private Burial will follow at the family plot at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Columbia, LA., under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.
James was a man of deep convictions. Married to the love of his life for 62 years. This kind of spirit showed through to all who came in contact with him. His gruff exterior was a façade when you saw him with friends and family. He served his country proudly and was a veteran of the Korean conflict
and the Vietnam War and retired after twenty seven years of service. He went on to a successful trucking career and only retired after health issues forced him to. James was happiest watching the Lady Techsters and making his yard beautiful. He and Eyvonne loved to travel and spent much of their retirement exploring the country he loved. He is preceded in death by his wife Sylvia Eyvonne Russell, and grandson, Joseph Adam James Paterakis.
He is survived by his daughters: Barbara K. Homann of Fort Worth, Texas; Jacqueline Roybal and husband Dewaine of Billings, Montana; Janet Fortenberry and husband Guy of Farmerville, LA; brother, Gery Russell of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren, Brett Homann, Ryan Russell Madison, and Anne Marie Fortenberry; two great- grandchildren, Owen Madison, and Grant Madison.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, with the service to follow.
