Funeral Services for Mr. Jim Simmons, 92, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 13, 2013 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Rev. Jon Tellifero officiating. Interment will follow in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Simmons was born in West Monroe, LA on August 10, 1921 and passed away on September 9, 2013.
Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church in West Monroe, where he was a member of the Choir and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was retired as Manager of Tom Hicks Contractors and West Monroe Trucking Company. Jim was a Veteran in the United States Army
serving during World War II
. He was a long time member of the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club in West Monroe.
Survivors: daughter, Janet Ann Johnston and husband, Dwain; son, James Thomas Simmons; grandchildren, Darlene Grace, Monica Arsenault and husband, Steven, Amanda Silverstein and husband, Will, and Michael Johnston; great-grandson, Jacob Johnston; sister, Tiny Kitchingham and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Michael Johnston, Stanley Burkett, Van Westbrook, Jerry Griggs, Jr., Benny Cassels and Chuck Adams.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Simmons, Don Tippen and Henry Camp.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
