Funeral services for Mary Nell Colson Rogers will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, March 16, 2013, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Reverends Jeffery Thomas and Rayland Trisler officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery on US Hwy 80 East.

Mrs. Rogers, former resident of Oak Ridge, Bastrop, and Oak Grove, died Friday, in Kent, Washington.

Mary Nell was born to Mary Vivian Colson on December 28, 1932, in Oak Ridge, Louisiana. She passed from this life on Friday, March 8, 2013, at age 80.

Mary Nell graduated with honors from Oak Ridge High School in the Class of 1951. After graduation, she worked for Bell Telephone Company, and while her husband was attending LSU, she worked in the Physics Department of Louisiana State University. When her husband was in the Air Force, and when he later became a civilian instructor at Keesler Air Force Base, they lived in Biloxi, MS. After her husband graduated from LSU, they moved to Wichita, KS, where her son, Keith, was born. Lastly they moved to Huntsville, AL.

Mary Nell was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Kenneth Oliver Rogers; grandmother, Docia Nolan Colson of Oak Ridge, with whom she lived until she married; her mother, Vivian Colson White; her step-father, Clarence H. White; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis E. Rogers and Ida Swayze Rogers; and her nephew, Eric M. White.

Mrs. Rogers is survived by her son, Keith Oliver Rogers and wife Michele of Renton, WA; two granddaughters, Amanda Rogers Deal and husband Joshua of Spokane, WA; Miss Olivia Kate Rogers of Renton, WA; her brother, Clarence White, Jr. and wife "Beth" of Oak Ridge, LA; two nephews, Sean Colson White of St. Louis, MO; William Ashlan White of Start, LA; two special aunts, Mrs. Una Lee Colson Shelton of Springdale, AR; and Mrs. Laura Marie Goyne Colson of Oak Ridge, LA.

Pallbearers will be Steven Rogers, Troy Rogers, Ashlan White, Nicholas Jones, Brian Colson, and Emmett Lee Brown III.

Honorary pallbearers are Ben Edward "Sonny" Baker, Kenneth Colson, Jerry Colson, Billie E. Hutchinson, Kerry O. Rogers, and Charles Lloyd Hart.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 16, 2013, from 12:30 PM until service time at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
