William (Bill) Haynes(1921 - 2012)

William Cecil Haynes

Funeral services for our father, William C. (Bill) Haynes, will be held at 12:00 pm Friday, October 19, 2012, at Community Baptist Church on Defreese Rd. in West Monroe, LA, with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Calhoun, LA. with full military honors. Bro. Danny McIlveene will be officiating. Our father passed from this life on October 15, 2012, at the sweet age of 91, to be with his wife, Evelyn Hallmark Haynes, after 62 years of marriage. He was born in a frame house on White's Ferry Road on August 7, 1921. The house is still standing and is owned by the family. The doctor did not get to the Monroe Court House by horse and buggy to register his birth until the 8th of August; therefore, all of his records reflect the incorrect birth date.

After graduating from Northeast Junior College with a degree in Aviation, our father joined the Army/Air Corps, which later became the Air Force. His tour of duty in World War II took him to the South Pacific as a pilot.

While stationed at Randolph Air Force Base, he met our Mother on a blind date in San Antonio, Texas, and soon married and became father to her two sons, Jerry and Gene. Within the year, his first daughter, Sallie, was born in New Braunfels, Texas. After being transferred to Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona, another daughter, Kitty Kathleen was born in 1952.

After leaving the service and returning to West Monroe, a son, Billy (William C. Haynes, Jr.) was born in 1958.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elva Wall

Haynes and Jacob Grady Haynes, his two brothers, J.G. Haynes, Jr. and Louis Grey Haynes, his son Jerry David Haynes, daughter-in-law, Martha Wactor Haynes, son-in-law Eddie Smith, an infant grandson, and his wife, Evelyn Hallmark Haynes.

His children are Jerry David Haynes, deceased-his two children, David Morgan Haynes and Kimberly Lynn Fletcher.

Son, Gene Clyde Haynes, and late wife, Martha, his two children, Gene Clyde Haynes, Jr., and Cindy Lynn Haynes McElwee.

His Daughter, Sallie Maureen Haynes Stevenson, and her husband, David and their six children: William Christopher French, Curry Maureen French, Markus, Seaglenda, Jobec, and Michael Stevenson.

His Daughter, Kitty Kathleen Haynes Smith and her late husband, Eddie Smith. She has one daughter, Brandi Kathleen Black Smith, husband, Clay Smith.

His youngest son, William C. (Billy) Haynes, Jr. and his children, William (Will) C. Haynes, III, and Misty Lynn Haynes, and his special great grandson, Drew.

He and our Mother were life members of Community Baptist Church and belonged to the Haynes Sunday School Class. Bill Haynes loved the outdoors whether working in his peach orchard, growing the best watermelons or strawberries or the sweetest corn and potatoes. He could grow anything and always loved his "farm"! At one time, he was the largest cattle owner in Ouachita Parish. More recently he and Kitty attended every auction on Monday and Saturday. He loved the excitement of the bidding on items.

He is survived by four children, 13 grandchildren, 25 great grand children and 2 great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Christopher French, Michael Stevenson, Markus Stevenson, Jobec Stevenson, Dean Everett, and Clyde French.

He was loved so much, he will never be forgotten.
