STUART DUNAWAY Obituary

Funeral services for Stuart Gordon Dunaway, age 51, of Monroe, Louisiana, will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 30, 2010 in the Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Monroe, LA. Burial will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, LA.
Gordon was born December 12, 1958 in Hollandale, Mississippi and made his way home to the Lord on October 26, 2010. Gordon and his wife were members of University Church of Christ in Monroe. Gordon graduated from Neville High School in 1977, and married his high school sweetheart, Cindy, shortly thereafter. In his 51 years, Gordon touched the lives of many with an indiscriminate heart, smiling face and a helping hand. Gordon had immeasurable love for family, friends, and life with his happiest days spent in the beauty of nature found all around him. Gordon's true calling was helping others in times of need, and his generosity knew no bounds. He was always ready to offer shelter, food, a hunting trip or simply a good story filled with laughter. His family and friends will always remember his passion for living, witty intellect, light-hearted attitude and a personality that was larger than life. Gordon will remain in the hearts of his family, friends and those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by his love.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Leon F. Surratt.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cindy Surratt Dunaway; daughter, Amanda (Mandi) Dunaway Minchew and her husband David; daughter, Michelle Dunaway; grandson, David Kade Minchew; parents, Charlie and Virginia Dunaway; mother-in-law, Billye Surratt; brother, Chuck Dunaway; sister and brother-in-law, Carol Dunaway Squyres and Travis Squyres; brother-in-law, Dennis Surratt and his wife Holly; brother-in-law, Bobby Surratt; niece, Casey Surratt Ebey; and nephews, Paul Dunaway, Michael Surratt, Jarrod Surratt and Matthew Squyres.
Pallbearers will be Randy Barr, Michael Caire, Phillip Culpepper, Jeff Crowley, Kevin Dodd, John Goodman, Richard Johnson, Jon King, Mark Lindley, Buddy May, and Teddy Joe Sutton.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, October 29th, 2010 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, 1200 Lamy Lane, Monroe.
Memorial donations may be made to "On Wings of Eagles" fund of the International Fellowship of Christian Jews at www.ifcj.org.

Cindy, you and all your family are in our prayers during this time of grieving the loss of Gordon. He truly was one of those unique individuals who left a special mark on all who had the good fortune to know him. There simply are no words to express what emotions the heart feels, but I know the angels in Heaven are singing tonight knowing he's there. John and I pray for the love,special comfort and mercy only God can give to you all during the coming days and weeks. Although I only met you & Gordon once, I know that he was the life of the party so to speak. He had a way of making you laugh even if you weren't in a very good mood.
