Floyd "Coonie" Aaron McVay



Funeral services for Mr. Floyd "Coonie" Aaron McVay, age 80, of Newellton, LA , will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Newellton, Louisiana with Rev. Dennis Campbell officiating.

Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Legion Cemetery in Newellton, Louisiana.

Mr. McVay was born in Oak Grove, LA, and had lived in Tensas Parish for 70 years. He was retired Chief of Police of Newellton and a member of the First Baptist Church of Newellton. He served in the U. S. Army from 1952 to 1954.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years Barbara Emfinger McVay of Newellton, LA; one son Gregory A. McVay and wife Theresa of White Castle, LA; two daughters, Judith and husband Jimmie Grissom of Baton Rouge, LA and Pamela and husband Bryan Ashley of West Monroe, LA; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; two brothers Othra Ray McVay and wife Shirley and Milford McVay and wife Alice.

Active pallbearers will be Chris McVay, Cody Grissom, Brady Lock, Scott Hoof, John McDaniel, Jeff Britt, Randy McDonald and Jay Britt.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles "Sonny" Simmons, Edwin Britt, Roy Sikes, Sheriff Ricky Jones and Jackie McClain.
