Hillyer Lamkin Obituary
Private Family Services for Hillyer Speed Lamkin, 83, of Monroe, will be held Thursday at Old City Cemetery, Monroe, with The Reverend Bill Easterling officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mr. Lamkin, an accomplished author and playwright, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ebb Tyler and Eugenia Speed Lamkin.
Survivors include one sister, Marguerite Lamkin Littman of London, England; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

I do not know if my message was sent but here it is again... Many years ago in the late 30's or very early 40's , Hillyer Speed and I were King and Queen of Mardi Gras held at the Layton Castle.. We were attired in Red, White and Blue sympolizing the great United States of America.USA. I lived on Island Drive just around the corner from the Lampkins who lived on Park Avenue.
