John E. Brown

Funeral services for John E. Brown, 80, of Monroe, will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the Upper Room Church, 8947 Westwood Drive, Bastrop, LA with Rev. Marcus Akers and Rev. Justin Akers officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Bastrop, LA.

John E. Brown, a retired pipeline safety program manager for the State of Louisiana, went to his Heavenly Home Wednesday, May 15, 2013. He was a member of the Upper Room Church in Bastrop, LA and the Louisiana Gas Association. Mr. Brown not only loved his Lord, he was rich in God's Grace and was blessed with numerous loving friends. He was known to make people laugh and was so easy to be around. Mr. Brown also served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Noelie Brown; brother, Jack Brown, and brother-in-law, Huey Lenard.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Delores Del Rio Brown; children, W Kyle "Tiger" Brown and wife Shari, and Deidre Brown Akers and husband Marcus; grandchildren, David Easton Akers and Ella Simpson; sister, Shelbie Lenard; brother, Jimmy Brown and wife Paula; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Andy Bunch, Ronald Day, Gary Del Rio, Jeremy Wallace, Joe Wallace, and Keith Wilkerson.

Visitation is from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

The family wishes to extend their special thanks to Dr. Floyd Jones and wife Marianne and staff, his Hospice care organization, his Upper Room Church family, and to his special nurses, Ann and Tina.
