Mary Davis Odom
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalms 116:15
Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, Mary Davis Odom, quietly passed away on Friday, February 7, 2014 surrounded by her family and loyal pets. Mary was born near Rockdale, Texas, January 24, 1932 and blessed us with her presence for 82 years. Residing in West Monroe for most of her life, she was a faithful lifelong member of the Claiborne Church of Christ where she was loved dearly. Mary obeyed the gospel of her Lord at the early age of 11 and exemplified His life in humble service to her family, church, and community. She graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1950, retired from E.A. Conway Memorial Hospital in 1997 and served as a Notary Public in Ouachita Parish for many years. She filled her life with many deeds as she enjoyed cooking, gardening, acrylic painting, traveling, family genealogy and organizing family reunions. Having a gentle heart and soul, she was a very giving person and was loved by many and will be truly missed by each.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Carl R. Odom of West Monroe; five children, Randy K. Odom of Walker, LA; Carla O. Meyers of Baton Rouge, LA; Janis O. Pruett of West Monroe; Gary R. Odom and wife, Linda, of Humble, TX and Sandra O. Guice and husband, Sammy, of West Monroe; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; cousins, nieces and nephews; her sister, Faye Ruth Tucker of Shreveport; and her two dogs, Jake and Booger. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Alice Davis, and eleven siblings.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, North 7th St., West Monroe, LA. Services will be conducted by Bro. Wayne Fussell and Bro. I enjoyed sharing an office with Mary at Conway for many years. Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you. And just imagine the amazing scenery Mary is enjoying. I have several of her beautiful paintings. Love and prayers for you all.
