After a life of service to family, church and community, Pat passed away in Baton Rouge at 11:35 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2012. Annette Patten Evans was born on November 2, 1927, she was a native of Lake Providence, Louisiana as were her mother and grandmother. Pat was a devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lake Providence. She served as president of the parish pastoral council at two different times and was appointed to the Diocesan Pastoral Council. She was a Eucharistic Minister, a former lector, and past president of the Altar Society. Pat was a recipient of the Diocesan Medal of Honor, awarded for her service to her church. She held a degree from Newcomb College - Tulane University, where she was elected president of the Music School, the student council and to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Following graduation, she taught in West Point, MS where she met her future husband, Bill. She later taught at St. Patrick School, Lake Providence Junior High and Lake Providence High School. Pat was the charter president of the Lake Providence Junior Auxiliary, a charter member of the Garden Club, and a member of the board of Friends of the Louisiana Cotton Museum. In 1982, she was invited to join the board of directors of Bankers' Life of Louisiana. Pat was a 60+ year member of Moses Shelby Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. After serving as chapter regent, she held state offices in LSDAR as District Director, Recording Secretary, Second Vice Regent and First Vice Regent. She has also been a national chairman of the National Society DAR. Later, Pat joined her husband, Bill, in their independent insurance agency, Evans & Knobles. She attained an agent's license and became vice president of their agency which had been established in 1922 by Pat's late father, C. Rupert Evans.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 45 years, William M. Knobles, her parents, Rupert and Annette Brown Evans, and her sister, Phallie Evans.

Pat is survived by her four beloved children: Ann Knobles Brown and her husband Alan, Baton Rouge; William M. Knobles, Jr. and his wife Evelyn, Baton Rouge; Mark M. Knobles and his wife Kim, Laurel, MS; and Clayton C. Knobles (Clay) and his wife Mary, Houston, TX; and a very special foster sister, Dr. M. Carolyn Thomas, Montgomery, AL. She leaves nine cherished grandchildren, Beth Brown Kruppa and husband Chris, Tomball, TX; Alan Brown, Jr., Baton Rouge; Dr. Claire Knobles Roberts and her husband Paul, New Orleans; Anna Kathryn Knobles Barber and husband Doug, Baton Rouge; William Knobles, III and his wife Paige, Baton Rouge; Ashley Knobles Enlund and husband Andrew, Denham Springs; Christopher Knobles, Bakersfield, CA; Karsten Knobles, Laurel and Clayton Knobles, Jr, Houston, and six great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers are members who served on the Pastoral Council with her: Charles Brown, Wayne Cunningham, Josie Hagel, Avery Jones, Betty Lensing, Dorothy Morgel, Sue Nelson, Frances Paris, Mary Shields, Suzanne Sitton and Barbara Titone.

Visitation and Rosary will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Lake Providence, at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 14th.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 15th, at St. Patrick.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends who wish to make memorials may make them to St. Patrick Catholic Church, P. O. Box 351, Lake Providence, LA 71254.
