R. W. Gregory, Jr.

Visitation for R. W. Gregory, Jr. will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2013, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. A family graveside service will be held the next morning at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Tim Neustifter officiating.

R. W. was born February 5, 1926 and passed away September 9, 2013. Mr. Gregory was a lifelong resident of Ouachita and Union Parish. He was born in Monroe and spent most of his life in the Monroe area. Mr. Gregory served two and one-half years in the U. S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific aboard the U. S. S. Enterprise. He was a graduate of Ouachita Parish High School and Louisiana Tech University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

He was active in the U. S. S. Enterprise CV-6 Association being a lifetime member of the Board of Directors; Past Reunion Chairman; Vice-President; President, and Chairman of the Board of Directors, as Chairman of Museum Projects. He was instrumental in creating Museum Exhibits at the Pensacola Naval Air Station Museum; aboard the U. S. S. Yorktown CV-10 at Charleston, South Carolina; Bremerton Naval Museum; and Smithsonian Institute, Washington, D. C.

He was a member of the Farmerville United Methodist Church and Charter Member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. Other associations include The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Monroe Jaycees, Monroe Chamber of Commerce; West Monroe Moose Lodge; Northeast Dance Club; United States Naval Institute; Louisiana High School Athletic Association; Association General Contractors.

Mr. Gregory was owner and president of Gregg's Inc. for thirty four years doing business as a Mechanical Contractor. While semi-retired he built the KOA Campground, began doing real estate development & management and was Owner and Operator of R. W. Gregory Water Company.

Mr. Gregory was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Jean Bickham Gregory and his parents Ollie Jeter Gregory and R. W. Gregory, Sr. Survivors include son Rice Gregory III and wife Terri; daughters Beverly Gregory, Mary Sue Smelly and husband Charles; Charlotte Milonski and husband Jeff; grandsons Rice Gregory IV and wife Lexi, Wayne Shaw, James Gregory Shaw, Dusty Dugdale, Hunter Dugdale, granddaughters Anna Gregory Hayes and husband Wade, Jill Grisby James and husband Matt; Molly Dugdale and Holly Milonski; great grandchildren Jordon Shaw, Henry James, Annie James, Amelia Hayes, Luke Hayes, and Emma Gregory.
