Vicki Johnson Stewart Jones peacefully entered eternal rest at her Quitman Louisiana residence surrounded by family and friends on June 17, 2012. A vivacious woman, dedicated to her faith, family, friends, and community, her warm and engaging smile will be missed.
Vicki was born in Hodge, Louisiana on April 19, 1947. She returned to Jackson Parish from the state of Arkansas in 1972 when she served as the Registrar of Voters for 20 years. After the death of her husband Mike Stewart in 1993, Vicki took over the operations of Family Pharmacy in Jonesboro, which she owned and operated until 2005.
Vicki was very involved in the communities of both Jonesboro Hodge and Ruston, LA. She served on the boards of Hodge Bank and Trust Company, First Baptist Church of Jonesboro and the American Cancer Society of Jackson Parish. Vicki also served as treasurer of the Ruston Civic Guild. Friendships were extremely important to Vicki and she enjoyed playing cards, attending "stitch" group and bible studies with her friends at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro and Temple Baptist Church of Ruston.
Vicki was preceded in death by her father, Frank Ernest Johnson, Sr., her mother Selwyn Garner Johnson, and her husband Louis Michael Stewart all of Jonesboro-Hodge. She is survived by her husband Captain Thomas N Jones, PhD of Quitman, her son Joe Stephen Henderson III of Little Rock, AR, her son Frank Johnson Henderson (Sabrina) of Texarkana, AR, her daughter Selwyn Stewart Kelley (Wes) of Columbus, GA, and her son Dr. Colin Carter Stewart (Julie) of Birmingham, AL. Her grandchildren are Joe Stephen Henderson IV and Ashley Dean Henderson of Little Rock, AR, Taylor Rochelle Hardin of Texarkana, AR, Lucy Kathryn Kelley, Annie Elizabeth Kelley and Bonnie Stewart Kelley of Columbus, GA, and Georgia Ellen Stewart, Juliet Emmaline Stewart, Mary Colin Stewart and Colin Carter Stewart of Birmingham, AL.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 19th from 4pm to 8pm at Edmonds Funeral Home. Services will be held Wednesday, June 20th at 10am at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro with interment following at Garden of Memories.
