William "Bill" Clyde Holcomb

William "Bill" Clyde Holcomb, age 85, of Gilbert, Louisiana departed this life on Sunday August 11, 2013 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Monroe, Louisiana, he grew up in Williamsburg, Mississippi.

He is preceded in death by his son William Coleman Holcomb, parents Mr. and Mrs. Clyde D. Holcomb, and brothers Sammy L. Holcomb and Charles B. Holcomb.

Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Faye Holcomb. He is also survived by his daughter, Charlotte Holcomb Little and her husband Dr. John Little, his granddaughters, Anna Little Robinson and her husband Dr. Jed Robinson, Dr. Emily Little Cassis and her husband Dr. Daniel Cassis, Dr. Laura Little Wooley and her husband Justin Wooley, and Miss Katy P. Little and great grandchildren Madeline A. Robinson and John Christopher Robinson. He is also survived by nephews Ryan Holcomb, Chuck Holcomb, and Dr. Thomas Firnberg, sister-in-law Ann Holcomb, niece Jane Berry, and sisters Margaret Murphy and Kate F. Berry.

Bill attended Calvary Baptist Church in Gilbert, Louisiana and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served in World War II. He was the Chief Deputy for the Franklin Parish Sherriff Office for over twelve years. He also was employed by Farmers Gin Co. and by Diamond M Drilling working offshore. His retirement years were spent as a self-employed master welder and construction expert.

Arrangements for services for Bill are being handled by Gill First National. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 13, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Gill First National in Winnsboro, Louisiana. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church in Gilbert, Louisiana at 10:00 AM. Internment will be at Oakley Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service include, Jed Robinson, Daniel Cassis, Justin Wooley, Ryan Holcomb, Grady Stephens, Roy McManus, Harold Stephens, and Larry Ezell. Honorary Pallbearers include Gene Parker and officers of the Franklin Parish Sherriff Office.
