Dale Oden, with family eulogies by Martha and Ronnie Vail. Burial will follow at the City of Bernice Cemetery in Bernice, La. "Miss Erline" was born on December 22, 1924 in the Pisgah Community of Bernice, Louisiana and died June 8, 2014 in Ruston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Omer and Mattie Lee Elliott; her loving husband of 63 years, Huey M. Roberson; her brother, Morelle Elliott. She is survived by her only child and treasured daughter, Martha Vail, and husband Ronnie; sister Gloria Long and husband Paul; sisters-in-law Elaine Elliott, Nelda Howell, and Mary Beth Roberson. Nieces: Janis Carroll and husband Bill; Brenda Cryar and husband Robert; Laurie Babb and husband Eric; Nancy McKinney; Nephews: Charles Elliott, Richard Howell, and Ken Roberson; Special Cousins Patricia Harvick; Richard Roberson and wife Fran; and a host of my lifelong special friends who were her 'adopted sons and daughters'.

After graduating Bernice High School in 1941, my mother worked at Hicks General Store in Bernice for 5 years as a buyer and customer service employee with Mrs. G.C. Hicks. Mother and Daddy later married in the Hicks home, which was very special to her. In 1950, they built a home in Bernice and mother became active as a member and teacher, as well as Women's Missionary Union President at First Baptist Church in Bernice during the 50's and 60's; was active in PTA and classroom events, chaperoned FBLA trips for Bernice High School; was a charter member of the Bernice Garden Club, member and teacher at Chatham Baptist Church in Chatham, member of Ruston Quota Club, and a 40-year member at Temple Baptist Church-Ruston.

My mother will be remembered for her Christian life of love for God and her family; as a devoted wife and and life partner to my father and his career; as a talented homemaker and hostess to all who entered her home; for her generosity to those in need; and for her 'sweetest smiles' throughout her life, which in her most recent years became more precious and memorable to her family and for those who cared for her.

Honoring her as pallbearers are Eric Babb, Charles Elliott, Bill Duncan, David Harvick,, Ken Roberson, and Tom Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are Dwayne Anders, Lane Brunson, Guy Cagle, Dr. Tom Carey,Bill Carroll, William Duncan, Bill Hageman, Richard Howell, Michael Lautigar, Dennis Reeves, and Richard Roberson.

The family would like to extend sincerest thanks to the loving family and friends at Alpine Guest Care Center who cared for 'Miss Erline' for 4 years; to Dr. Holly Kidd who has given exceptional and compassionate medical care and friendship over the years; to Drs. George and Tommy Smith; and to the wonderful nurses and ICU staff Northern La. Medical Center . Also, personal thanks to Rev. Dale Oden, her special Temple friend of 38 years, Dr. Reggie Bridges, Loy Seal, John King, Casey Casady, Jason Walsworth and members of Temple Baptist Church who have prayed, sent cards, and visited her at Alpine over the years, as well as other special friends and area churches who perform similar blessings to the elderly.

Rest in peace, my beloved and beautifully sweet mother. God is loving your smile that He loaned to us on earth for over 89 years. At the end of our tears, we will share our smiles for you always.
