Karen Lynn Lasyone Cox

Funeral services for Karen Lynn Cox, 52, of Downsville, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 15, 2011, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, with Rev. Michael Devillier officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Karen was born February 2, 1959, in Shreveport, LA, and passed away on February 10, 2011. She was an amazing and selfless wife and mother who loved and served her family tirelessly. Karen was a talented cook, and nothing gave her greater joy than having her entire family together. She was an avid gardener and loved enjoying the beauty of her work while watching the hummingbirds in her backyard. Her smile and fun sense of humor were contagious, bringing joy and laughter to her family and friends.

Karen was the cafeteria manager at Boley Elementary School in West Monroe and was greatly loved by all students and faculty. Her smiles and warm greetings brightened the day of all who entered the cafeteria. She loved every student and knew them each by name. Karen found great joy in loving and serving the children and teachers, always ready to help and encourage them.

Karen was preceded in death by her father, T.L. Lasyone, and brother, Jerry Lasyone.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Phillip Cox; four children, Felicia and husband Mark Parshall, Johnny and wife Ashley Cox, Stefanie and husband Brian Schneider, and Jimmy Cox; 4 grandchildren, Ryan, Brendon, and Ethan Parshall and John Phillip Cox, III; mother, Laverne Lasyone; sister, Teresa Lasyone; brothers Terry and wife Rogi, Gary and wife Joann, and Joey Lasyone; brothers-in-law Jim and wife Georgia, Bob, Bill and wife Bonnie, and Mike and wife Susan; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her special companion, Penny.

Pallbearers will be Micky Chevallier, Justin Crainshaw, Shaun Swan, Jay Riser, Brad Bryan, and Dustin Wooley.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday, February 14, 2011, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.

Memorials may be made to or Educational Materials at Boley Elementary School.
