Funeral services for Daryle Scott Bernice, age 53, will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 10, 2011 at Griffin Funeral Home in West Monroe with Cheryl Roach officiating. Internment will follow at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe.
Daryle was born October 15, 1957 in Monroe, Louisiana and died June 4, 2011 in West Monroe, Louisiana after a short, but valiant battle with cancer. Daryle lived most of his life in and around the Twin Cities but also called South Louisiana and Texas home for a number of years.
Daryle loved his family and friends above all else and was well loved by many. Everyone who knew Daryle will remember his humor and energy and his sweet and generous spirit. Daryle was a loyal Saints fan, even when the team was known as the Aints and the paper bag custom began. He loved watching all football and followed the game on and off season closely. He was widely known as an excellent cook and loved to eat good food. Daryle was a wonderful host and cherished opportunities to bring his loved ones together to eat and visit. He appreciated music of all kinds and enjoyed fishing. Daryle worked in a variety of occupations over the years within the oil and gas pipeline industry, HVAC service, and in asbestos abatement. Daryle will be missed deeply by his many friends and loved ones.
He is survived by his wife Kathy Watson Bernice and children Nicholas Bernice, Sarah Navarro Cash and husband Mike, Shane Green and wife Sunny, Holly Green, Scotty Bernice, Nikki Bernice, Mallory Bernice, and Logan Bernice; parents Carolyn and Ron Holt and Gordon Bernice Sr.; one brother Gordon "Sonny" Bernice, Jr and wife Mary; one sister, Joylyn Bernice Humphrey and husband Dan; 5 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Pallbearers will be Micah Bernice, Mike Cash, Dan Humphrey, Heath Kuhn, Chris (Lump) Johnson, Peter Watson, and Al Mouton.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Vic Barton and Malcolm Martin.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Griffin Funeral Home in West Monroe.
